Service & Leadership
I've been engaged in service and leadership positions across different stages of my life. Some of the events were related to my professional goals while some were not. I only listed the experiences related to my profession in a chronological order from the most recent to oldest within my doctoral program. I will continue to spare time to be involved in and support not just the research and practice communities, but also activities that are beneficial to education and the society.
1. President-elect of Organizational Training and Performance (OTP) of AECT: 2020-2021
This is a 3-year term position: president-elect, president, and past-president for Division of OTP of AECT. As the president-elect, I will be responsible in performing all the duties of the president when the president is unavailable, assisting the conference planning, co-chair scholarship and division awards, and assisting in the implementation of division goals.
2. Coordinator of GK-12 program: 2017 - 2020
I've been serving as the coordinator of GK-12 program, an educational outreach program collaborated between Purdue University and local K-12 schools. As the coordinator, I run the program on a daily basis and my responsibilities include recruiting participants across the campus, designing and running training workshops, mentoring participants, coordinating with local schools, evaluating the program, and conducting research, etc. I served the role under graduate school fellowship for the first two years but volunteered when the funding run out in 2019.
3. Reviewer for Journals: 2019 - present
I has been serving as a reviewer of two journals in the field of Learning Design and Technology: TechTrends and Performance Improvement Quarterly. In 2019, I reviewed 5 manuscripts for TechTrends.
4. Representative to board of OTP: 2019 - 2020
After winning the scholarship of division OTP, I served as the representative to the board for a year in assisting the board members on assigned tasks.
5. Host of the Chinese Fair in Michigan: 2016
I hosted the traditional Chinese Fair with Miss Michigan. The event attracted thousands of attendees in Big Detroit area.
